The Poisoned 068: DABAN MODEL 6642S - MG PHENEX NARRATIVE VER

I guess it was just a matter of time before they [Daban] decided to copy the Phenex as well. I will be honest, I am not very much familiar with the difference of the normal Phenex and the Narrative version. Is it just the tail on the Shields?

Anyways, I just hope the quality is good. The big problem here would be the nub marks if they parts are not undergated. We got a lot of new things from Bandai, including the Casval RX 78 2. If Bandai saw these updates from Daban again, we should prepare for the worst that they can be shut down again and will be gone for a couple of years, or maybe even permanent. As long as Daban is still here, people should already get the rare ones just to be sure.

Back to the images, I got the pictures from a friend's post in one of my Gunpla-related groups. I haven't checked the other pages if they already posted this.

The Poisoned 067: NEW 00 GUNDAM MODEL FROM DABAN! 00 7 SWORDS?

So, this was posted in our local FB Gunpla group and a lot of people made their guesses about this.

Based on the color of the pixels, it's kind of does look like Exia. But I'm sure this will not be the MG Exia Devise or even the Exia Repair IV. It's possible that they might release the MB ver for Exia.

However! We have a lot of extra parts laid down in front of the model. And if we try to use 7 Swords as a base for the image, it will perfectly match it!

And here's the picture of the Metal Build 00 7 Swords from Bandai.

So yeah, we already have a possible MB version for 00 7 Swords but in a DIY model kit format. I might get this since I love 00.

Review 061: The J4 Part - Did Bandai Made a Mistake?

The legendary "J4" of Freedom 2.0 – just a simple small part, but will surely give any builder the heebie-jeebies. Is there really something wrong with this part? Or is it just the builders’ fault?

If you don’t like accepting mistakes or accepting any advice when building, then you can ignore this article.

Also, all credit for the images used goes to their respective owners. I do not own some of the images used, and they were only shown for educational or research purposes.

I was actually surprised when I saw a lot of posts from builders who encountered the same problem with the J4 part. All of them were broken. And many builders said that everything was fine except for this part. This case also applies to the Daban Model since they just copied the kit from the original one. So back to the question – did Bandai made a mistake in designing this small part? The answer is both YES and NO. It will all depend on the builder’s approach. It can be considered YES, there’s something wrong with the part if you are not familiar with the design of this peg or part. And of course, NO, if and only if you are already aware of the issue. Some builders are not familiar with the design of this peg but have never encountered such horrible mistakes.

Let’s look at the design. It seems like a normal peg, right? Just like the rest of the pegs, I’m sure you have already seen them a thousand times. What some of the Gunpla builders didn’t notice is the canal-like design placed in the middle. This will be ignored and thought of as a fancy design by Bandai. But the truth is, there’s actually a purpose for that design. The female pegs from the thighs (J42) that should fit into J4 have a protruding line inside. You get the idea now? That hump, or protruding line inside the female peg, should align with the canal-like design on J4. How do I know? Well, it’s because I also built Freedom 2.0. I checked the website Dalong first regarding this issue, but the best way is still to see it for yourself.

Hey, why are you smiling at the images, you pervy little bastard? >w>

Anyways, these images are from my own review of Freedom 2.0 (Bandai). I did try fitting one leg without aligning the "protruding line" from J42 to J4. I tried twisting it slowly and then I saw stress marks already showing up. Of course, I will never push it far just for the review. And then I attached the other finished leg as hard as I could while trying to listen for a "snapping" sound. I did hear a faint snap and voilĂ  – it can now move smoothly. I also did the same thing to the other leg.

Anyways, is Freedom 2.0 (or Eclipse) the only kit with this kind of peg design? No. A lot of the MG kits have it. Even with this picture from MG Barbatos.

You can see the peg with the canal-like design. That’s why you can’t pull out the arms or legs quickly, and it is because of that. Think of it as a simple lock from Bandai so that the arms or legs will not slide off when you’re posing it or get loose over time. So yeah, the best way is to make sure that all of the pegs, joints, etc., are fully fitted together. Now, I am not saying that it’s your fault if you made a mistake with this part. You may not be aware of this during the time it happened. I have made a lot of mistakes as well. I always ask other builders and look for solutions. I hope that this short article will remind others to be observant while building. Getting hyped with our new kits or models is fun, but it can change if we’re not being careful.

Update: 11/10/2022
After posting this to certain Facebook groups, someone commented that he built an MG Justice and there were no issues. So, it goes back to point if the person fitted the parts properly.

The Poisoned 066: MG 1/100 UNICORN PERFECTIBILITY (DABAN 6656)

I didn't want to post the early rumors yet because there were so many options on the list. We were quite hyped up that the list includes EX-S 1.5, Deep Striker, and even FAZZ ver Ka. But now, it's revealed that it is the MG Unicorn Perfectibility. I'm not mad, but I was expecting Deep Striker more than this.

As for the new builders out there, Bandai released this as a Premium as far as I know. So, if you just want a replica, then this can be an option. Of course, we still need to wait for a proper review to find out about the issues. The picture shows that we don't have any waterslide decals for this kit. We have the common dry transfers and clear stickers. I am not familiar with the P-Bandai version, so, I am not sure if the action base is already included there.

I am not sure if I should get this. I already have a few kits lined up for this year. But if the budget allows me to, then I might reconsider it.

The Poisoned 065: MNO-XH03 AO BING (FROM MOTOR NUCLEAR)

First off, all I know about the Motor Nuclear brand is that they always release fully built models/figures. And this is a surprise to me that they have released a complete DIY model kit; runners and all. I am not sure if their other models have been like this. I never got interested in them since I always want a model kit and not a fully built figure.

Another thing that made me think is one of the builder's comment in an FB group I follow. He said that SNAA was XH01 and this [Ao Bing] was coded as XH03. In my mind, I don't think SNAA will do any "collab" with Motor Nuclear. IF AND ONLY IF they are actually partners with this kit, then why skip on XH02 and jump straight on XH03? Motor Nuclear already made a good reputation for their "Dynasty Warriors" styled models. There's no benefit for them to partner with someone since they can do it themselves.

I tried to do some personal checking in the internet. If you search Motor Nuclear kits, the last 2 kits with 01 and 02 was Bai Qi  and Cao Ren. I will show the images below.

MNQ-01 Bai Qi

MNQ-02 Cao Ren

It's just my personal opinion that I don't think SNAA will have a collaboration with a rival store. But in order to prove me wrong, SNAA should release a kit from XH02 and ALSO JUMP onto XH04. That would connect the dots. Otherwise, it's just a mere coincidence.

Anyways, the box is huge and there's a lot of runners for this model. I also love the detailing on the parts. Some of them are already pre-colored. So there's no need to paint them. Even though, a separated part would be nice, Motor Nuclear, already giving the full service of painting them is a bonus for straight-builders. I also believe that the parts are undergated base on the placement of their gates. That would be nice since it would cover or hide the nub marks.

The picture also shows a few packs of separated inner frame parts. Probably die-cast metal parts for the joints. If you check the labels of the runners, you can also see the coding of MNP. So that's probably our Motor Nuclear name, but I don't know what the P stands for ('project' perhaps?).
